Amur cub at Walter Zoo by Evelyne Eichenberger

  • Do you have a current fundraising appeal?

    Yes, please visit Current Appeals.

  • Where does my money go?

100% of the money you donate to 21st Century Tiger goes directly to support wild tiger conservation projects in tiger range states. Projects send proposals to 21st Century Tiger for review by a panel of international experts - if they meet our rigorous criteria (and we have enough funds to cover the grant) we send the funds requested to them. At the end of the year the grantees send reports and accounts so we can ensure all our donations are well spent. You can see the projects we support on the Projects pages.

  • How can I donate securely?

Donating through PayPal is a simple, secure way to send money - and it's free! Just click on the button and follow the instructions.

  • Can I send a cheque?

Yes you can send us cheques in Sterling, Euros, or $US.

Please make cheques payable to ZSl/21st Century Tiger and send them to:

    Regents Park
    London NW1 4RY

Sorry we can not take cheques in other currencies.

  • Can I donate from outside the UK?

Yes, you can easily donate through PayPal.

Alternatively, you can send us a sterling, Euro or US$ cheque. Sorry, we can not take cheques in other currencies.

  • I want to fundraise, do you have any ideas?

Roary - the Official Hull City AFC Tigers mascot Fundraising events are a great way to raise money for tiger conservation, and have lots of fun at the same time too!

There are many ideas for fundraising events on our fundraising page. Please let us know if you come up with other ideas and tell us about your events.

In 2008, Hull City AFC announced their support for 21st Century Tiger. They'll be holding a match day fundraiser and if you can think of any other 'tigers' who could get involved and give something back to their friends in the wild please let us know!

  • Can I set up a Standing Order?

You can set up a Standing Order Instruction simply by downloading and filling in this form. Don't forget to fill in the Gift Aid section - using it means that for every pound you give, we can reclaim an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue. You must be a UK taxpayer.

  • I have made a donation, can I fill in a Gift Aid form?

Gift aid is tax relief on money donated to UK charities.

By using Gift Aid, every pound you give means we can reclaim an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue. You must be a UK taxpayer.

Did you know a declaration can be made to cover individual donations, a series of donations, can cover donations made during a specified period or to cover all future donations. They can also be backdated for up to 4 years prior to the date of the declaration.

Please complete a Gift Aid form.

  • Can I pay by credit card?

Yes, we now accept credit cards donations over the phone. Please call us on 44 (0)20 7449 6444. Please be advised that the office is only manned part-time, so please do try again if you do not get through immediately.

  • What is Matched Giving?

Matched Giving is a great way to get support from your employer. Approach your boss and ask if they run a ‘matched giving scheme’ whereby they match their employees’ charitable contributions. Matched funding could be invaluable in helping you to raise as much money as possible for 21st Century Tiger, so it is well worth finding out if your employer runs such a scheme.

Your employer can use ‘matched giving’ to support 21st Century tiger and the most popular way is a 100% match. Each employee's gift is matched pound for pound. It can be capped by setting an annual limit for each employee.

If your current employer does not offer a matched funding scheme for their staff, ask them to consider it! Matched funding offers important benefits for employers

    • it boosts morale and encourages team building by rewarding employees for their generosity
    • a reduced tax bill – you don’t have to pay Corporation Tax on the money you use to match employee giving
    • it raises your company’s profile and generates positive PR
    • Creates a feel-good factor among employees about the organisation they work for
    • Enhances corporate image and reputation
    • Encourages a growing sense of social responsibility

  • Can I give directly from my salary?

Make life simple with Give As You Earn

If you earn a salary, or if your pension is paid via PAYE, making a commitment to giving doesn't get any simpler than this.

    How does it work?

With Give As You Earn – the UK’s largest payroll giving scheme – you can give directly from your pre-tax salary, so money that would normally go to the taxman goes to 21st Century Tiger instead.

You just decide how much you want to give each month – it could be a couple of pounds, or hundreds or thousands. Then your donation comes out of your pay packet before the taxman touches it.

    What are the benefits?

21st Century Tiger benefits because we know we've got money coming regularly and can plan what to do with it in the long term.

You benefit because you don’t pay any tax on the donations you make. If you’re a basic rate taxpayer, a gift of £6.41 only actually costs you £5 – so you can pass the tax relief on to the charity.

Find out more about how you can give more through Give As You Earn through the Charities Aid Foundation.

    How do I give?

Give As You Earn is incredibly flexible – you can give as much or as little as you like, in four different ways, and change how you give and who you give to whenever you like.

To join Give As You Earn your employer will need to be running a scheme. Find out if your employer offers Give As You Earn.

If you want to set this up with the Charities Aid Foundation please use reference number GYE 7434.

  • Can I get a tax break if I donate from the USA?

If you live in the USA you can support 21st Century Tiger by donating to the American Friends of ZSL, which is located in Washington DC and receives full tax exemption from the IRS under section 501(c)(3).

You may be eligible for certain tax breaks from donations but for more information please contact:

American Friends of London Zoo, Inc.

    c/o Chapel and York Ltd

    1000 N West St Ste 1200

    Wilmington, DE  19801-1058

Please make your donation out to the American Friends of London Zoo but clearly reference your donation "ZSL FAO 21st Century Tiger".

  • Can I set up my own Just Giving page for my fundraising?

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a featured charity of Just Giving.com. If you wish to fundraise for 21st Century Tiger and use Just Giving to collect your donations you can do so by selecting ZSL as your beneficiary. This is a great way to collect Gift Aid on your donations.

If you would like to do this, please contact us first so that we can make sure that your money is redirected by ZSL. Please note that Just Giving charges a fee for their service.
